Surf in Ipanema

There was some awesome surfing to watch in Ipanema beach. The surf is quite high in the area around Arpoador and it makes it the most popular spot. There were mornings when waves were three meters high. It is always a pure joy to watch the surfers catching the waves, getting on their boards within seconds  and excellently maneuvering along the wave; sometimes it takes my breath away, such is a great connection of a human body with water.

I am not a surfer myself but love watching it whenever an opportunity arrives. On these pictures I am watching an early morning surf of Yudi, the owner of the kitesurfing-surfing camp. Lho-nga has a few surfing places, and this spot is near the camp. The best surf here starts in November and lasts till April. Check the map here to see where is Lho-nga.
