Wilsons Promontory National Park

These were the last days in Australia before returning home to Switzerland and I could have not imagine a better place to end the 6 weeks journey.  As I look at this image of myself running on the beach feeling space and freedom for me this is what life is about; playing in outdoors, being our true selves, doing what we love, spending quality time with our loved ones and drinking good wine. The more life is simple the more it is fulfilling.

Wilsons Promontory National Park is one of the most beloved national parks by Australians, and for me one of the most special place in the world. It is located at the southernmost tip of mainland Australia (Victoria), 150 km south of Melbourne. ‘The Prom’, as it’s affectionately known its wilderness and rainforest, stunning coastal scenery, some mountains and secluded, swimming and surfing white-sand beaches. We caught a fish, stayed at Squeaky Beach (stunning wild beach with orange rock formations), hiked Mount Oberon and watched sunsets. If you travel in Australia one day this is a place to come to!

On the sea again

The last time I have been out on the sea on a boat was six months ago so it was very special to go on a sea trip thanks to my friend's father, a great and gentle Captain from New Caledonia.  We left in the early morning on a brilliant, sunny day, when the sea is calm and there is almost no wind. We passed by little islands and stopped at the reef for some swimming and snorkeling. There was some relaxing time on a small beach of Little Tenia. These are all the shades of blues found in New Caledonia.

“So fine was the morning except for a streak of wind here and there
that the sea and sky looked all one fabric, as if sails were stuck high up in the sky,
or the clouds had dropped down into the sea..”

Sea colors in Poe

With Deva and Dimitri with spent two days camping at the Poe beach. It is a vast, beautiful lagoon with an intact coral reef and plenty of marine life. The reef system in New Caledonia is one of the largest in the world and covers over 23,000 km2. I did some snorkeling in the morning, the boat took us to the reef, water was the most clear and transparent and the coral looked very healthy. Very grateful I can still see a coral in this condition and hopefullyy it will last like this forever (coral bleaching is a common occurrence around the world due to the environmental changes).
