My past few weeks have been filled with "end of the summer" sunshine, after work late cosy evenings with friends at the lake, some climbing, last swimming without the wetsuit and too much wine. And yes, I do work, and walk to the office every day if you may ask. A weekend in Interlaken , an outdoor mecca in Switzerland, was the highlight of the August month. It was filled with outdoor adventures of river rafting and canyoning. Not sure if I would repeat the canyoning again as it was scary at times but so beautiful to experience the canyon from the inside. No pictures of these adrenaline packed moments above, as it was impossible to carry the camera, but a few snapshots from Interlaken town where I felt instantly at ease. A few hot addresses to share if you ever land in this part of the world.
Accommodation: We stayed in Backpackers Villa Sonnenhof and it was a jackpot for affordable and spotless accommodation. This was the best hostel I have ever stayed in, unbelievably clean, modern with plenty of charm, great personnel and blissfully quiet with surrounding gardens. No wonder they have won the prize this year of the best hostel in Switzerland for the 4th consecutive year.
Activities: Outdoor Interlaken provides all sort of outdoors adventures, and they have fantastic and professional guides from all over the world.
Best coffee and dessert in town: this goes to Schuh, Viennese-style coffee house. A perfect coffee and can't-stop-at-one sweet thing to go with.
