winter reflections

Back in winter mode means walking on cold, dark city streets with a winter-coat on and a soft wool scarf around my neck, inhaling crisp, frosty air. It means opening a window in the morning and staring at snow capped mountains across the lake; is also means slowing down, enjoying the warmth, comfort and coziness of home. There is a true opportunity in winter of taking day by day a bit slower, a bit gentler. There is an obvious beauty with the change of seasons, both visually as well as in the way life alters its course. The mood of people, the ambiance, the scent, the light, the flavour of food - everything changes and new things evolve before your eyes. Those are the things one can miss when living in all-year-round warm climate country. I spent ten years in sunny and warm parts of the world and forgot the true beauty of four seasons. The moment of realization came just a few days ago when a job opportunity arrived; moving to the the seaside, to a warm country again. In my mind I saw all my "Suisse" friends faces passing in front of my eyes and images of snow covered mountains, of me ski-touring in this incredibly vast, pure, white and free space and I realized how much I love this all and that I am not ready to leave this. Not yet. I am happy here and now. So the ocean and the sea will need to wait.
We did a good ski-tour this weekend, we left the grey and wet city streets behind and arrived in the mountains with blue skies, basked in the sun. I feel so energized and high on endorphins after a full body workout while going up to the summit. I will post a few photos from this tour soon. Other exciting news is that a couple of websites have ordered my photographs, really excited about it and hope projects likes these continue. Wishing you a good beginning of the week.
