What makes a perfect day? This time it was a great company of two finest people, combined with leisure day in a wonderful setting, a perfectly cooked fish for lunch, and a swim in the ocean after all that. I can officially say now that after visiting many parts of Rio Urca is my favorite neighborhood and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quaint place to relax in Rio de Janeiro. It sits right under the Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar) and stretches along the bay. There are a few little white sand beaches to stop by, a couple of local bars for coffee, beer and snack (Urca Cafè) and finally a wonderful restaurant Julius Brasserie for lunch or dinner. Our lunch at Julius was a jackpot, the food was the freshest and delicious, the atmosphere very relaxed, service impeccable (nobody rolled his eyes when I asked for my "complicated" coffee), it was all what we needed. A Dutch Julius Bijlsma opened his restaurant just two years ago. He never had a restaurant before and after spending all his life in Amsterdam he moved to Rio, found the place, renovated it, created his team and the result is simply great.

And meeting Julius brought me to a reflection that I always love to see and hear the stories of people who reinvent their lives. It is so inspiring and refreshing to experience people with open minds, who feel free in their minds to take steps, people who believe in their potential, who dare to dream and take the action to redesign their lives as their hearts want and long for. I have redesigned my life many times, I have stumbled and fell many times and had many "highs" as well, it all made me to learn so, so much and experience life from so many fascinating angles, I would never change it for a conventional and meticulously organized life till the end of my days. So unexpectedly a bit of life philosophy at the end of this post. Have a great weekend everyone.

Julius Brasserie Address: Av. Portugal, 986, Loja D, Urca, Rio de Janeiro, Tel: (21) 3518-7117
